A Transformative Story
Coronavirus and Complexity
The effect of the novel coronavirus (covid 19) on American Society has been a study in Complexity (CAS). If we look at information, not as competing propaganda or ‘disinformation’ campaigns, but as widely circulating memetics in search of attractors, we see that ‘serious viral pandemic’ has achieved orbital resonance.
Why did ‘viral pandemic’ achieve resonance in contrast to ‘it’s okay, it’s like the flu; be positive’? Why did ‘viral pandemic’ become the dominant meme? Certainly it has emotional impact (as does the relief message: be positive), but there may be more at work here:
- Undeniable survival message (instinctual satisfaction)
- Actionable steps:5-alive (behavioral satisfaction)
- Guidelines for Social Norms (social satisfaction)
- Contribution to Society (sense of purpose)
- Scientific satisfaction (sense of personal intelligence)
There are other satisfactions available for memes as yet awaiting orbital resonances.
What we are looking at here is a rapid transition to a new Scandinavian Model of political reality. This is a sudden shift toward a trend (whether we recognize it or not) that was emerging but only ever so slowly onto the American scene.
